Why United, Chelsea February 17 clash will attract huge Nigerian audience - Editor

The English Premiership clash between Manchester United and Chelsea, slated for tomorrow night, Monday February 17, would not just attract the usual global attention, but will certainly be watched by large number of Nigerians, because of the prospect of former Super Eagles hitman, Odion Jude Ighalo going head - to - head against Tammy Abraham, in a battle of experience vs youthfulness.

While Odion Ighalo who recently retired from the Nigerian National team, emerged highest goal scorer in the last African Cup of Nations, Tammy Abraham, who has Nigerian heritage, dumped the African Nation and opted to play for The Three Lions, The English National Team.

The deadline -day loan signing of Odion Ighalo by Manchester United, did not come without criticisms from soccer pundits and fans of The Red Devils of England, hence the increased appetite by football followers across the world, especially Nigerians to watch tomorrow's crunch battle for champions league spot.

Barring any injury, Tammy Abraham is sure to start tomorrow's game, but same can not be said of Odion Ighalo, who United confined to train in isolation over purported Coronavirus scare. This is another reason, soccer lovers hugely anticipate the clash between United and Chelsea.

Apart from Ighalo and Abraham, young Chelsea dependable defender, Fikayo Tomori, is another Nigerian by birth, who Africans would look forward to seeing in tomorrow's game, with the possibility of getting the task of stopping Odion Ighalo.

Despite the reservation over his loan move to United, Ighalo described The Red Devils' switch as a dream come through and will do everything to justify the confidence reposed in him by United's Manager.

The ex - Nigerian International proved his mettle few seasons ago by scoring lots of goals for EPL side, Watford, before moving to China.
