No theft or vandalization of Assets in PSML, Etaghene
Mr. Emmanuel Etaghene

General Manager, Public Affairs of Premium Steel and Mines Limited, Mr. Emmanuel Etaghene, has clarified that there has been no theft or vandalization of assets in the company premises, emphasizing that the reports concerning the seizure of trucks conveying some pieces of obsolete materials was designed to embarrass the company and not for public good.

He made the clarifications in a statement released to newsmen on Saturday, stressing that the argument that some assets of the company were stolen, vandalized and carted away was the height of mischief and designed to paint the company in bad light.

Etaghene disclosed that management had approved for evacuation of moribund materials, pieces of metals, rods and other items that littered the company premises after many years of inactivity and that those materials seized by the police were dully approved for evacuation and never stolen.

‘’Some community leaders who are not satisfied with the process over non-inclusion are responsible for the false alarm. They are crying foul because the contract for evacuation of the debris was not given to them. We are already sorting out the issues and we want to assure the general public that nothing like assets stripping and vandalization of assets can be tolerated in the plant. Just a couple of days earlier, our parent body, Stallion Group, commissioned a library and other facilities for use of our non-core business concern. A 400 KVA power generating set, and another 47KVA generator have been installed for use of the schools and hospitals. The plant is doing well and all we need right now is the support of the host community instead of distractions in the form of negative insinuations’’.

Mr. Etaghene added that PSML will never succumb to any cheap blackmail designed to derail the resuscitation process which was on top gear.

He reiterated the position of the company that Premium Steel and Mines Limited, a responsible corporate organization cannot be involved in stealing their own property as the items in question were approved for evacuation by management.

‘’So the argument of stolen items, or vandalization of assets does not arise at all. Mischief-makers are on the prowl but we are not deterred by their antics. We shall continue with the resuscitation programme until every sector of the plant is activated. Premium Steel is committed to all round development of communities, schools, hospitals and the prospective growth of the plant in bringing the project to actualize the ‘made in Nigeria’ concept coined by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.’’, he declared.
