Tidi seeks traditional rulers' support ahead COVID - 19 lockdown

Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, on Saturday March 28, stepped up his administration' s advocacy against the COVID - 19 Pandemic, with a visit to traditional rulers in Warri South, pleading with them to prevail on their subjects to adhere to the lockdown declared by the Delta State Government, effective Wednesday April 1.

 

Dr. Tidi, who led some members of the newly constituted Warri South COVID - 19 Rapid Response Team on advocacy visits to The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli, The Ovie of Agbarha, Warri, Orhifi Ememoh 2 and the Okere - Urhobo Traditional Council of Chiefs, enjoined the traditional rulers to also educate their subjects on the need to respect the advisory on social distancing and basic preventive measures such as continuous hand washing as well as the use of sanitizer . 

 

The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli, who commended the Tidi administration for the advocacy , recalled efforts already made by him to educate his subjects worldwide on the imperative of staying safe as the COVID - 19 Pandemic ravages the globe.

 

The Monarch stressed the need for everyone to abide by the stay - at - home order, saying, " a dead man does not do business or go to church".

The Ovie of Agbarha, Warri, Orhifi Ememoh 2 and Okere - Urhobo Council of Chiefs, in the same vein , acknowledged that the COVID. - 19 pandemic was real and efforts were already in place to sensitize their subjects.

The Head of Environment Department of Warri South Local Government Council, Mrs. Mode, illustrated the basic preventive measures against COVID - 19 at the palaces of the monarchs .

 

Members of the Warri South COVID - 19 Rapid Response Team, also visited Chief D. Akoma and took the advocacy to Ubeji Market, Warri.
