COVID - 19: Fear of lockdown extension grips Deltans as state records index case

There are palpable fears among Deltans that the lockdown declared by the State Government, which would have ended April 14, may be extended following reports of an index case last night.

Most callers of this newspaper since late yesterday when the news broke that Delta State has recorded its first case of Coronavirus, were more worried about the possibility of the state government extending the lockdown beyond two weeks, than the need to exercise more caution in terms of preventive measures against the COVID - 19 Pandemic.

Their concern was anchored on near zero foodstuffs at home and lack of money to restock , buy fuel for generators and other sundry expenses.

Though details were still very sketchy as at the time of this report, with Deltans waiting for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa ' s promised broadcast this morning, speculations were rife that the index case, is a man who returned from Canada and resides in Bendel Estate, Effurun, before he was admitted in a popular Warri based private clinic.
