INYA threatens alliance with Itsekiri over Ijaw marginalization

The umbrella body of all Isoko youths worldwide, Isoko National Youth Assembly, INYA has vowed to forge alliance with their Itsekiri counterpart to fight against perceived political dominance of Ijaws in Delta South Senatorial district if the Isokos do not get Delta State Deputy Governor's slot in 2015,party affiliation notwithstanding.

This much was disclosed by the President of INYA, Comrade Egbo Okemena Victor Sunday December 28 when he and other youth Presidents from Yoruba, Urhobo, Ogoni, Itsekiri, Ibo, Kwale and some Middle Belt ethnic nationality paid a consultative visit to the Akulagba of Warri Kingdom, Chief Ayirimi Emami at his country home in Warri, Delta State.

Comrade Egbo Victor who stated that the Isokos can boast of over 250,000 votes, described Chief Emami as a great leader in the South South who they needed to consult with to get his support in their cry for justice and equity in political representation.

He appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to call on PDP leaders in Delta State to restructure the political imbalance.

Speaking in the same vein, the National President of Itsekiri National Youth Council, I NYC, Comrade Esimaje Awani explained that their visit to Chief Emami was to form a synergy to address ''the inequitable distribution of political offices in Delta State''.

According to Comrade Awani, “if the Itsekiris are pushed to the corner, we will align with the Isokos to protect our ethnic nationalities’’, stressing that one ethnic nationality is shortchanging others in Delta South.

In a chat with Newsmen, Chief Emami decried a situation where politics across the country is based on sentiment and canvassed for equitable distribution of political power in Delta State, especially in Delta South Senatorial district.
