April 26 Bye-Election: I’m strongly in the race, Edema declares
Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema

The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area and leading contender to the Warri South Constituency 1 seat in the April 26, 2017 Bye-Election, Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema has dispelled speculations that he has stepped down for Princess (Mrs.) Shola Daibo or any other aspirant, insisting he is strongly in the race to represent “his constituents”.

Hon. Edema who made the clarification in a telephone chat with Fresh Angle International Tuesday April 4, averred that he will not be swayed in his quest to emerge victorious in the April 26 Bye-Election and provide qualitative representation for people of Warri South Constituency1.

On his achievements as Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Hon. Edema explained, “my impact to the people of Warri South Local Government right from my first tenure is immense and cannot be outlined in just a swoop. Despite the economic downturn currently facing Nigeria, I have continuously exhibited selfless welfarist disposition, especially towards the downtrodden. As the people’s servant, I have consistently sacrificed my security vote and parts of my salary for workers and people's welfare, the environmental and healthcare impact of my administration is obvious for all to see. Training of people in various skills as well as education under my administration are verifiable, just visit the Council Main Secretariat to see things for yourself. King George Centenary Hall is one edifice to behold, some of my critics are big beneficiaries of that project. Infrastructural facelift of the council secretariats and other projects in the 19 wards, especially during my first tenure as Chairman are incontrovertible. It might also interest you to know that my administration rebuilt Merogun Primary School along Cemetery Road, Warri during my first tenure in a bid to improve teaching and learning environment in Warri”.
