A 70-year-old man, Kareem Adebayo has been arraigned by the Police before a Magistrate Court in Osogbo for allegedly defrauding a woman, Alirat Olawumi of N250, 000, Our Osun State Correspondent reports.
At the court on Tuesday September 5, the Prosecutor Taiwo Adegoke briefed the court that the accused person sometime in the year 2017 received the sum of N250, 000 from Alirat Olawumi with the pretence to assist her son, Jamiu Olawumi in securing a job.
The prosecutor added that the offence committed by the accused is contrary to and punishable under section 419 of Criminal Code Cap 34 Volume II Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty of the allegation, his Counsel, Mr Nagite Okobe applied for the bail of his client in the most liberal terms.
In her ruling, Magistrate Olubokola Awodele granted the accused person bail of N200, 000 with one surety and adjourned the matter to November 24 for hearing.
