New CP calls for collaboration in tackling Sea Piracy, Cultism, Militancy


The Byelsa State newly deployed Commissioner of Police, Mr. Don Awunah has expressed his command determination in tackling sea piracy, cultism and militancy with effective collaboration with other security agencies in the State.

Our Bayelsa State Correspondent reports that Mr. Awunah who hails from Benue State said his philosophy is to ensure transparency, integrity and quality assured community policing to reduce crime and criminality in the State.

He made the statement at the State Command while fielding questions from journalists in Yenagoa, he said vigilante groups that operates in the communal level has helped to reduce crime rate, adding, “vigilante need to collaborate and take permission from us because they are not recognize by law”, he stated.

In a related development, Special Adviser on Security Matters, Mr. Boma Sparo-Jack at the ongoing Ministerial/Agency briefing said since the inception of restoration government under the leadership of Chief Seriake Dickson, crime and criminality has drastically reduced to its barest minimum that afford Bayelsans to go about with their normal businesses.

Mr. Sparo-Jack said CCTV cameras installed in the State has helped to crackdown criminal elements and their hideouts, adding that lack of sustenance was the major challenge confronted the security architecture.

 

The Restoration government has heavily funded and organized special trainings for security personnel to effectively combat crime and criminality, noting that government has procured another gun boats to combat sea piracy, vandalism of government facilities in the waterways.

He described Nigeria Police Force as incorruptible institution that has discharged her constitutional obligation with integrity, free of bribe and renders quality service to the nation.

Mr. Sparo-Jack commended security operatives especially the police force for making Bayelsa State proud in their efficient utilization of security response system in tackling insecurity that made the global community to recognize the state as the best in terms of community policing.
