Delta State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Mr. Omamofe Joseph Pirah has disagreed with insinuations that Delta State does not have the required human resource capacity in terms of the marine sector, saying Delta State School of Marine and Technology, Burutu has the wherewithal to address the purported shortfall of seafarers and other maritime workers globally.

Mr. Pirah who spoke to newsmen on the sideline of the just concluded first Warri Economic Summit, stressed the need for youths in Delta State to ensure that the waterways is safe ahead of the much anticipated dredging of Escravos Bar in Warri South -West Local Government Area.

He admonished Deltans to retrace their steps and invest at home, saying it's a way of attracting investors to the state.

Pirah averred, "don't be bamboozled by any investor who says Warri, Delta State is not safe or have the required capacity. We have maritime school in Burutu which will take care of seafarers. You don't have to take them (intended trainees) to Ghana or  Sierra Leone ".
