NDDC, Chevron, Fenog fingered in alleged marginalization of Omadino indigenes

The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Nigeria Petroleum Development Company, NPDC, Lee Engineering Construction Limited, Chevron Nigeria Limited, Fenog Nigeria Limited, Nest Oil, Neconde Energy Limited and Pi-Moff Nigeria Limited, among other corporate bodies have been accused of neglecting indigenes of Omadino Community in Warri South Local Government Area for over a decade now.

Members of Omadino Welders & Filters Association, OWFA under the umbrella of Nigerian Welders Association, NWA, in petition addressed to the Area Commander, Warri Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Warri, stated that youths of Omadino are not able to partake in the proceeds of exploration and exploitation of natural resources within their community.

The petition signed by Messrs Kennedy Ugbameta and Omasanjuwa Oghanrandukun, President and Assistant Secretary, OWFA respectively, copied The DSS, the DPO Police ‘A’ Division Warri, The Commanding Officer, Nigerian Army, 3rd Battalion, Effurun Barracks, The Commanding Officer, Nigerian Navy, NNS Delta, Warri, The Olu of Warri , Ogiame Ikenwoli, Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, Hon. Daniel Reyenieju of the House of Representatives and the DG of Security, Delta State Governor’s Office Annex, Warri.

According to the petitioners, in as much as they have tried not to be militants or troublesome, they are now constrained to explore relevant and applicable legal avenues to compel the said corporate bodies to act in tune with reason and the rule of law.

They stressed that positive intervention in the right direction could calm all nerves concerned and see to the protection of government’s interest in the natural resources abundantly available in Omadino.
