Ensure implementation of new minimum wage at State, LGA Levels–Organized Labour urges Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari

The Organized Labour in Kogi State has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to put necessary framework in place to ensure the new minimum wage is implemented at the State and Local Government levels.

Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that this much was contained in a statement released Monday April 22 by the Kogi State Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Onuh Edoka and his Trade Union Congress, TUC counterpart, Ranti Ojo.

According to the labour leaders, the call became necessary to avoid the bitter experience of the past where governors refused to implement the minimum wage of N18,000.00.

The statement enjoined state governors to demonstrate their love for state civil/ public servants and local government workers by implementing the new wage without delay.

While promising to engage the Kogi State Government constructively to ensure early implementation of the new wage, the unions appealed to President Buhari to ensure the release of  30.8billion naira, being balance of bailout funds to Kogi State to enable the State Government settle part of the arrears of salaries owed workers.
