My father was instrumental for the splitting of Warri Councils, Omatseye reveals

Scion of the Omatseye dynasty and former Chairman of the defunct Warri Local Government Area, Prince Sunny Omatseye, says his late father and foremost rubber merchant, Prince K.B. Omatseye, did a lot for the creation of present day Warri North Local Government Area, from the defunct Warri Local Government.

The former local government chairman, made the assertion in Sapele, Delta State, Wednesday May 22, when he played host to Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, who led some members of his executive on a condolence visit to the Omatseye family, following the demise of Late Prince K.B Omatseye.

Prince Sunny Omatseye, while stating that he has been impressed with the Dr. Michael Tidi’s administration in Warri South Local Government Area, noted that Warri South is special, because there is a lot of pressure in administering the council.

He canvassed for continuity in government, particularly in terms of development plan.

Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi in his remarks, opined that Late Prince K.B Omatseye, will be remembered amongst industrialists in Nigeria.

While declaring that the death of the prominent Itsekiri Nationalist, “is a great vacuum” the Warri South Chairman described Late Prince Omatseye as a National figure, adding that his passage will serve as springboard for younger generations to aspire for greater heights.

Dr. Tidi was accompanied on the visit by Secretary to Warri South Local Government, Mr. Joseph Oribioye, the Council’s Supervisors for Health and Agric, Patricia Edun and Henry Mayuku as well as the Head of Community Development Department, Mr. Gibson Jemigbe.
