DTHA Speakership: Oborevwori favoured ahead of Ibori’s daughter

Amid disquiet among political gladiators in Delta State ahead of the inauguration of the State House of Assembly, Monday June 10, indications have emerged that immediate past Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori may return as Speaker of the state legislature.

Despite speculations that Mrs. Erhiatake Ibori Suenu, daughter of former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori, is in contention for the position of Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oborevwori seems poised to retain the position, following his unflinching loyalty to Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

Apart from perceived inexperienced of Hon. Erhiatake Suenu, who has only spent four years as legislator, the seeming resolve by Governor Okowa to have firm grip of PDP structure in the state, would likely sway in favour of Oborevwori.

A source at Asaba, confided in your Soaring International Tabloid that Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori still occupies the Speaker’s accommodation in the state legislative quarters and as at 3:30pm today, Sunday, June 9, Hon. Oborevwori’s official residence was bubbling with activities in preparation for tomorrow’s inauguration.

It will be recalled that Dr. Okowa appointed his choice, Chiedu Ebie as Secretary to the State Government and appointed Chief Ibori's man, David Edevbie, his Chief of Staff.
