Eagles, Bafana Bafana Countdown: Fans attack Akpeyi, Onuachu
Daniel Akpeyi

As the countdown to the Super Eagles of Nigeria versus Bafana Bafana of South Africa crunch quarter finals AFCON tie billed for 8pm tonight, inches closer, couple of Nigerians have taken to their twitter handle to express mixed optimism about the chances of the Nigerian National Team beating their South African rival.

While some Nigerian fans are optimistic of victory for the three-time African champions, others fear the Super Eagles might lose to the pacy South Africans, due to their lack of confidence in the team’s current number one goaltender, Daniel Akpeyi and Paul Onuachu, the seeming alternate striker to Odion Ighalo.

Your Soaring International Tabloid serves you the thoughts of some Super Eagles fans as extracted from their twitter handle:

Flexing Thony wrote: “PLEASE I DON'T WANT DEEP BAD LUCK JERSEY AND AKPEYI

SUPER EAGLES ALL THE WAY”

Lucas Rox shared his thought thus: “Rohr shouldn't use Akpeyi if we want to soar, my grandma is better than that guy. Onuachu is useless, Osimhen is a better option that is if @ighalojude is to be substituted.. Wishing @NGSuperEagles all the luck they need in tonight's game. The banana banana of RSA is no match.”

Stanley Darlington twitted: “We don't have a good goalkeeper. Akpeyi is a weak link but once we attack and defend together then we have a chance because their number 9 and midfield works very hard so we need to match them if we want to win”.

Kingsley opined: “Akpeyi is jittery, whole number of South Africans know him very much. In that case, he shouldn't be in goal today. What's wrong with Uzoho”?

Adesola Fagbemi averred: “Nigeria must defend compactly, play possession game, avoid South Africa counter attack, mark in wingers in triangles, not allow crosses in from flanks, attack with 4 and defend with 6 players. Eagles must shrink to defence, expand to attack, low crosses, run more. Super Eagles should beat South Africa for the sake of innocent Nigerians being gruesomely murdered in South Africa in a xenophobic attack in 4-2-3-1 or 4-1-3-2 formation, Nigeria should play total football, as a striker how I wish I could play for Nigeria”!
