Pipeline Surveillance: We are running out of patience, ex-agitators tell Dokubo
Prof. Charles Dokubo

Ex-agitators in the Niger Delta have called on the presidency to implement an earlier promise made, that they would be engaged in the proposed pipeline surveillance job, saying their patience is running thin, after three years of endless wait.

A leader of Peretorogbene Community in Bayelsa State, Comrade Bossman Abodedike, who spoke exclusively to Our Senior Correspondent on behalf of  the ex-agitators, Tuesday August 13, said the then Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme and Special Adviser on Niger Delta Affairs to President Muhammadu Buhari, Brig. Gen. Paul Boroh (Rtd.) had assured them during a meeting that the Federal Government would engage the ex-agitators and other Niger Delta youths on pipeline surveillance jobs, promising that each community would be responsible for the provision of pipeline security in their community, but nothing has been done till date.

Comrade Abodedike explained that they were even directed to submit names and passports to the Amnesty Coordinator's Office at Abuja, which they did and nothing tangible happened.

He called on Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Coordinator of the Amnesty Programme and Special Adviser on Niger Delta Affairs to President Muhammadu Buhari, Prof. Charles Dokubo and other relevant stakeholders involved in sustaining peace and harmonious relationship between the Niger Delta ex-agitators and multinational oil and gas companies operating in the Niger Delta, to immediately ensure that the ex-agitators are engaged in pipeline surveillance jobs, so as to guarantee the prevailing peace in the oil and gas industry.
