The Social Democratic Party, SDP in Kogi State, has rejected INEC’s disqualification of Barr. Natasha Akpoti, its gubernatorial candidate in the forth-coming November 16 governorship election, saying the electoral umpire lacks the constitutional power to disqualify any candidate.

Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that the position of the SDP was made known today, Saturday October 5, during a press conference held in Lokoja, Kogi State.

The Director-General of Barr. Natasha/Khaleed Campaign Organization, Dr. Abdullahi Baba Abdul, who addressed newsmen on behalf of the party, said, “we are not unmindful of the orchestrated plan to get our candidate out of the ballot through the back door, but we are strengthened by the fact that INEC lacks the power to disqualify a candidate, as such SDP will commence vigorous campaign across the state”.

The party declared that its candidate, Barr. Natasha Akpoti, “will be on the ballot in the forthcoming November governorship election”.

While noting that, SDP will heighten its campaign ahead of the forth-coming governorship election, Dr. Abdul urged the people to make history, “by resisting impunity, as the SDP remains the party to beat”.
