Fourteen suspected buglers and robbers have been arrested in Ugbuwangue community by the Warri South Division of the Delta State Command, Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN and handed over to the police within the first two weeks of operation in the community.
This much was disclosed by the Warri South Division Commander Vigilante Group of Nigeria VGN, Mr. Stephen Okoh during an exclusive chat in Warri with Our Senior Correspondent.
While noting that the aim of the Vigilante is to collaborate with the police in fighting all forms of crime and criminality in Warri and environs, Mr. Okoh commended the initiative of the new Chairman of Yonwuren and Agbeje family of Ugbuwangue, Mr. Kingsley Wilobi for bringing VGN into Ugbuwangue Community.
He appealed to residents of Warri and environs to give members of Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN the necessary support to assist them in synergizing with the police in the task of fighting crime as well as other negative vices in the area.
Meanwhile, investigations reveal that despite the presence of VGN in Ugbuwangue community, buglers have devised more quiet means of stealing from residents of Ugbuwangue.
The buglers and robbers identify very quiet premises where the vigilantees hardly extend their routine patrol to during working hours and gain access into the homes of persons who went out for their daily businesses schedule before stealing uninterruptedly.
