There is no gainsaying the fact that Nigeria is presently undergoing very difficult times in terms of security and economic challenges, no thanks to bad governance and mismanagement of resources by preceding administrations.
While the fallout of the aforementioned led to increased job losses and making several companies to go out of administration or drastically reduce staff/workers’ salary, findings have also revealed that many emotional relationship and marriages are either crashing or on the brink of collapsing.
Investigations have shown that due to the inability of many married men to meet up with their marital responsibilities/obligations as a result of either job lose, non-payment or reduction of salary, a sizeable number of married women have either resorted to infidelity or outright abandonment of their marriages. The affected men/father have resorted to other desperate and unconventional means of survival, like killing for ritual purposes, crimes, begging and other social vices.
Analysts are of the view that if urgent steps are not taken by the current federal and state governments to revamp the ailing economy by creating jobs through the establishment of industries, the increasing rate of collapse of marriages, will lead to increase in crime and criminality, moral decadence, rebellion against constituted authorities and absolute breakdown of law and order.
This is because many families would eventually disintegrate with its attendant negative socio-cultural failure.
