Scoop: Shootout in Warri Market

Though details were still sketchy as at the time of this report, Fresh Angle International has gathered that there was shootout today, Monday October 3 at Ogbe-Ijoh Market in Warri, Delta State.

It was not immediately clear if there was casualty, but feelers reveal that the shootout may not be unconnected with demands by some youths in the market premises to collect revenue from traders in the market, most of who are determined not to pay any revenue to the youths.

The market whose construction was started by the late Felix Ibru administration of Delta State in what seemed like a move to pacify the Ijaws following the domination of Igbudu and Pessu Markets by Urhobos and Itsekiris respectively is yet to be completed by the Delta State Government and handed over to authorities of Warri South Local Government Council.

Fresh Angle International can report that the skirmish which occurred earlier today allegedly between the traders and community youths have been brought under control by security agencies acting on the orders of the Police Area Commander Warri, ACP Mohammed Muazu.
