Chevron’s Firm donates ambulances to three States

Star Deepwater Petroleum Limited, a Chevron Company and its Co-venturers in the Agbami field - Famfa Oil Limited, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Statoil Nigeria Limited and Petroleo Brasileiro Nigeria Limited on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, donated ambulances to Yobe, Borno and Adamawa States.

The gifts were to support the efforts of government in providing adequate and accessible healthcare in the benefiting Yobe, Borno and Adamawa states and the nation at large.

The handover ceremony held in Abuja was attended by members of National Assembly, including Senator Abdul Azeez Murtala Nyako, Adamawa North Senatorial District; Senator Abubakar Kyari – Borno North Senatorial District; Senator Binta Garba – Adamawa North Senatorial State and Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim – Yobe East Senatorial District.

Others were Honourable Sadiq Ibrahim – Fufore/Song Federal constituency, Borno State, Abubakar Hamman – Deputy Permanent Secretary, Adamawa State Liaison Office, Abuja, – Dr. Haruwa Mschella, commissioner for health and Dr. Mohammed Bello Kawuwa – commissioner for Health who represented the governors of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe respectively.

Senator Aluko, Director, Government Affairs, Chevron, who represented the Director, Star Deepwater Petroleum Limited, handed over the ambulances to the states.

Senator Binta: “We are delighted and grateful for this laudable gift and for the scholarships given to our students by Agbami Coventurers. The intervention by Agbami Coventurers is an indication that they are interested in the progress and welfare of the people of Adamawa State and Nigeria in general”.

Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim: we are thankful to the Agbami Coventurers. The ambulance gifts is clear demonstration of the saying a friend in need is need is friend indeed.

Senatorial District; Senator Abubakar Kyari: The ambulances are excellent contribution to deliver good healthcare and we also have confidence that this is the beginning of more interventions by the Agbami partners to Borno State.

Senator Abdul Azeez Murtala Nyako: The ambulance is going to make a great difference in healthcare delivery in Adamawa State and its impacts in the grassroots will be enormous far beyond the vehicle.

Dr. Haruwa Mschella, Commissioner for Health, Borno State, spoke on behalf of the representatives of the governors: We thank Agbami and its partners for the ambulances. The ambulance gift is appropriate and is critical in saving lives especially women in labour and convulsing children who may not have access to hospital in community due to the destruction of about half of the general hospitals in Borno State. We are going to put the ambulances to good use”.
