Delta Government bans payment of 25 percent mobilization fee to contractors
Augoye addressing the contractors

Delta State Government has announced the ban of 25% payment as mobilization fee to contractors handling various road projects in the state, noting that mobilization is not the right of any contractors, Fresh Angle International can report.

Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa who was represented by the Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye said made the announcement during a meeting with contractors in Asaba, the State Capital.

He said; "Mobilization is like a loan, you get paid according to the certificates you raised. Don't be deceived by our field engineers into shoddy jobs because we will not tolerates that, neither will we tolerate those that don't have access to equipments."

Our Delta North Correspondent reports that Chief Augoye also disclosed that no fewer than 16 road contracts has been rejected in the last one month for failure to adhere to specifications, noting that the rejection became imperative following legal consultation.

The Commissioner while worrying that some contractors are yet to commence work at their site, quipped that, "there is a serious issue regarding road contraction in the State. Some of you are yet to mobilize to site. We are worried because the dry season is short. The Governor wants the expedition of all roads contracts. This is the 21st century; we cannot tolerate any shoddy job. You must have the accurate measurements of stone based."

He said while the government is making effort to pay the contractors, discovered that most of them do not have work plans which makes it difficult for them to be properly accessed.
