Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Yahaya Bello pledges support for Nigeria Army

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has reiterated his resolve ‎to support Nigeria Armed Forces for the onerous task of maintaining territorial integrity and internal cohesion. 

Our Kogi Correspondent reports that Governor Bello dropped this hint on Sunday January 15 at the Remembrance arcade, 1914 and 1918 cenotaph, where fallen heroes are remembered located along Murtala Mohammed way, Post Office, Lokoja, Kogi State.

The Governor stressed that his respect for the armed forces is the driving force is the reason to honour and respond to their request pointing out that his directive to Women Affairs Ministry to furnish his office with details of the needs of the widows of slain soldiers would be adhered to religiously.

The Governor who laid wreath at the cenotaph at about 10. 20am visited medical team at the scene and released the white peagons to commemorate the day.

Prominent among those who witnessed the occasion ‎were: Deputy Governor, Chief Simon Achuba, Commander Army Records, Brigadier General Henry Ayamasaower, Commander Naval Base, Lokoja, Commodore Dolapo Kolawole, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abdullai Chafe, Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Nasir Ajanah and Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Umar A Imam.

Others are Chairman Kogi Traditional Council, Attah Igala, HRM, Michael Idakwo Ameoboni 11, Etsu Bassa Nge, HRM Abu Alih‎, Commissioner for information Abdulkareem Abdumalik and Commissioner for youths and sports Comrade Adoji.

The event which ended at about 10:40 am had Major Aminu Abuh of Army Record Chaimaigumari Barracks as the Parade Commander who stated that “it was the grace of God which leads one in a great assignment as parade Commander of an event”.
