Legislator’s Suspension: Court cites security reasons for transferring hearing
Hon. Friday Sanni

The suit filed by the member representing Igalamelamela Odolu Constituency in Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Friday Sanni against the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the State Legislature over his suspension has been transferred from the Kogi State High Court sitting in Idah to another competent court of jurisdiction for security reason, Fresh Angle International can authoritatively report.

The decision followed an appeal made by Counsel to the State Government, BD Kadiri before Justice Fola Ajayi of the State High Court sitting in Idah, citing security reasons.

Before and during the court proceedings, heavily armed security men comprising of the Nigeria Police, Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps barricaded the court premises.

Every individual that entered the court premises were subjected to a thorough stop and search exercise before gaining access into the court.

Counsel to the plaintiff, Barr. Promise Ogbadu described the transfer of the suit from Idah as strange, weird and curious.

Ogbadu explained that he wasn't aware the defendant applied for transfer of the case, noting that no copy was brought to his knowledge before the day’s hearing commenced.

Report says the Presiding Judge, Justice Fola Ajayi after listening to the plaintiff and the defendant, acknowledged the directive from the State Chief Judge, Justice Nasiru Ajana for the case to be transferred to another competent court of jurisdiction in the State.
