The resuscitation process of the moribund Delta Steel Company, Ovwian-Aladja is now in top gear as power supply has been restored to the plant by Premium Steel and Mines Limited, (PSML) the new investors, suggesting hopes of imminent restoration of the plant to production level.
Breaking the news to newsmen at the company premises, the General Manager of PSML, Engr. German Victor, disclosed that after weeks of serious interactions with the relevant government agencies and PHCN at the National level, DSC which lost its connection to the National grid over unpaid entitlements to Power Distribution Companies in more than five years now, secured a great relief for the company as power has been restored to power activities, particularly the resuscitation process in the plant.
A highly elated Engr. German noted that with this feat which has been achieved within weeks of commencement of the resuscitation process, there are assurances that the plant will come alive shortly to the delight of all stakeholders as the power supply was a very critical component of the entire resuscitation program.
He called on the federal government and the host Udu Community to continue to support Premium Steel and Mines Limited to be able to achieve the onerous task of bringing the company to production level so as to boost the local economy when qualified staff are mopped up from the labour market to help trigger the desired economic re-awakening in Udu, Delta state and Nigeria at large in the interest of all.
He expressed satisfaction with the progress of work done so far, affirming that the target timeline for commencement of production in the plant was achievable calling on all stakeholders to cooperate with the PSML so that any distraction that could hamper the smooth take off of the plant could be addressed together.
