Alleged Obahor Park: Don't rewrite Warri history, INYC cautions Okowa
Comrade Esimaje Awani

The Itsekiri National Youth Congress, INYC has cautioned the Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa administration of Delta State not to “re write Warri history” in the name of approving contract for the “remodeling, redesign and beautification of Obahor Park”, saying the action is capable of igniting fresh ethnic crisis in Warri.

President of INYC, Comrade Esimaje Awani handed down the caution in an exclusive telephone chat with Fresh Angle International Saturday August 19.

He stated that there has never been any such place as Obahor Park in Warri, adding that preliminary information indicates that even if it is not the Erejuwa Playground along Upper Erejuwa Road in Warri that the state government intends to “wrongfully rename as allegedly explained by Secretary to Delta State Government, the parcel of land in the Obahor/Esiri area purportedly belongs to Rewane Family and as such an Itsekiri land”.

Awani advised the Okowa administration to thread softly so as not to increase the insecurity situation in the State, especially “since the State Government has not been able to end the Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh crisis the recurring communal crisis in Amai and other Kwale areas”.
