There appears to be no end in sight regarding the leadership crisis rocking Itsekiri Regional Development Committee, IRDC as a prominent community leader in Dibi Field, Warri North Local Government Area, Delta State, Mr. David Odeli has threatened legal action over alleged moves to elect or appoint “people who are not in any way related to the 23 Chevron IRDC communities into the proposed new executive”.
Mr. Odeli in a petition addressed to the Chief Thomas Ereyitomi led IRDC reconciliation committee through his attorney, Ovie Abenabe & Co, stressed, “schedule 3 paragraph 2 of the Itsekiri Oil and Gas Producing /Impacted Communities Development Council Executive, IRDC constitution stipulates that the election or selection of the ten (10) man executive of the council shall at all times be from the host communities of the various fields”.
In the petition dated September 1, 2017, Odeli who is the current secretary of Tisun Community Management Council of Warri North alleged that he “stumbled upon some very unpalatable information that there are moves by some fifth columnists to undermine the explicit dictates of IRDC constitution”.
While stressing that there is need to follow the express directives of IRDC constitution in constituting the eagerly awaited IRDC executive, particularly as it affects Tisun Community, the Warri North Community scribe asserted that no money is missing in IRDC as being speculated.
He enjoined the 23 IRDC communities to put their priorities right and give the necessary support to the Chief Thomas Ereyitomi led reconciliation committee in the daunting task of repositioning the Chevron established IRDC.
