Take proactive steps to prevent Coronavirus, Tuoyo advises people of Warri South - West

The Chairman of Warri South-West Local Government, Hon. Taiye Duke Tuoyo, has called on the people of Warri South-West and organisations operating in the Local Government Area to take proactive steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The Chairman said this Friday, 28th March during the flag-off of a Sensitization Campaign against the Corona Virus.

Hon. Tuoyo said that the Campaign has become necessary following reports of increased cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria emanating from people coming into the country from high-risk countries of the world. 

He said that the COVID 19 Virus is spread by close contact with someone coughing or sneezing and by handshakes.

Hon. Tuoyo advised the people of Warri South-West L.G.A that in spite of the growing cases of the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria, there is no need to panic but that they should maintain a high level of hygiene and other precautionary health and safety measures such as regular handwashing, maintaining social distance, Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth and avoiding crowded places as recommended by the World Health Organisation(WHO) and the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, to prevent ourselves and loved ones from this unfortunate plague.

Highlights of the event was the Chairman demonstrating the correct way to wash hands as senior Health and Environment Officers assist.

The Chairman also called on all residents of the Local Government Area to adhere strictly to the 'stay at home' directive of the Delta State Government from Wednesday, April 1.
