The Orosuen-In- Council of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, Warri, has charged Interim Officers of Okere-Urhobo Development Movement, OUDM, not to pledge allegiance to individuals or group of persons, but to the entire kingdom.

The Otota (Traditional Prime Minister) of Okere- Urhobo, Chief Wilson Eboh, handed down the warning, Friday June 12 at the Orosuen Palace in Warri, on behalf of the Orosuen-In- Council, during the inauguration of a 12- member Okere Urhobo Development Movement.

While charging the new youth leadership of Okere Urhobo to abstain from the collection of development levies from “those developing their  properties” in the kingdom as well as avoid the collection of “cut off”, Chief Eboh emphasized that the youth movement is under the President- General and his executive, “who will monitor and co-ordinate all your activities”.

He noted that the present constitution of Okere Urhobo approved in 2013, shall be amended to suit modern reality, urging the Interim Officers to put away all selfish tendencies in order to succeed in their task.

President- General of Okere Urhobo, Chief Emmanuel Okumagba, in his earlier remarks, recalled the turbulence witnessed in the kingdom recently and noted that peace was achieved by the instrumentality of Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, with the cooperation of leaders and elders of Okere Urhobo.

Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, who was represented by Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Chief (Mrs.) Divine Iniovosa, enjoined people of the kingdom to keep the peace that has been achieved.

The member representing Warri South Constituency 2 in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Matthew Poko Opuoru, who spoke to newsmen after the inauguration, assured that the unity and peace attained, will be sustained for the overall development of the area.

Chairman of the newly inaugurated Okere Urhobo Development Movement, Mr. Emuaghogho Eburu, thanked members of the Orosuen-in-Council for the opportunity to serve and assured that his leadership will not let the kingdom down.

While stating that growth of the kingdom is their top priority, Eburu promised to bring everyone together in the determination to sustain peace and development.
