Opuoru to reintroduce construction of Tomatoes, UCC Roads, Warri into Delta Budget

The Member Representing Warri South Constituency 2 in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Matthew Poko Opuoru, has disclosed plans to reintroduce the imperative of constructing the Tomatoes and United College of Commerce, UCC, Roads in Hausa Quarters, Warri, in the next Delta State budget.

The Lawmaker, who gave the assurance Saturday June 27, in Warri, when the Hausa (Arewa) Community in Warri and its environs, presented him with an Award of Excellence in recognition of, “his Immense Contribution to Human Capital Empowerment and Development”, revealed that the road projects suffered set-back when he first introduced them in the budget as a result of COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in slash in the current appropriation of the State.

While assuring that the road projects would be completed before the end of his first term in the state legislature, Hon. Opuoru, averred that he will collaborate with the head of Hausa Community in Warri, with a view to attracting more visible people-centered projects.

 

He announced that five more persons from the Arewa Community in Warri, will benefit from his grassroots empowerment programme, saying: “This is just the beginning”.

The Sariki Hausawa of Warri and Environs, HRH Alhaji Bello Mohammed in his address, stated that the leadership acumen of Hon. Opuoru, “is verifiable for everyone to see”, adding that, “the most touching was the palliatives you sent us during the COVID-19 lockdown”.

 

The Sariki Hausawa, whose address was read by the Mai Angwa of Hausa Quarters Warri, Alhaji Zuberu Zango, enjoined the lawmaker to continually sponsor bills that would be of overall benefits of his constituents, noting that the contribution of Hon. Opuoru towards improving the welfare of people in Warri South Constituency 2, informed the award presented to him.

 

He mentioned women of Hausa extraction that are beneficiaries of Hon. Opuoru’s grassroots empowerment programme, as efforts of the lawmaker that requires gratitude from Arewa Community in Warri.

 

 

The Etsu Nupe of Warri and Environs, Alhaji Zuberu Mohammed Tajudeen, in his remarks, slated: “We have not seen your kind in this community. God will bless those that brought you out in 2019. We will be with you and continue to be with you till 2023 and beyond”.

People’s Democratic Party Coordinator for Ward 9, Unit 17, Hausa Quarters in Warri South Local Government Area, Safiyanu Hamisu, stated that the empowerment extended to 25 women in Hausa Community, Warri was special, saying they see, “classical democracy” in Opuoru, which they hadn’t seen in the constituency.

 

 

Fresh Angle International can report that current and past councilors in Warri South, including Hon. (Chief) Paul Jessah, Hon. Kenneth Omohwovo (Aide to Hon. Opuoru) as well as present Warri South Council Supervisor for Community Development, Youths and Sports, Mr. Elvis Okpako Eboh, were among PDP Ward leaders that graced the ceremony.
