The National Council of Women Societies, NCWS, Ughelli South Local Government Chapter, has protested against rape and violence against women and the girl-child.

Correspondent Faith Omoghene reports that the NCWS members led by the Chapter President, Chief (Mrs.) Victoria Jowah, accompanied by policemen from the Divisional Police Office at Otu- Jeremi, marched through various streets in Otu-Jeremi, headquarters of Ughelli South Local Government Area, with banners bearing inscriptions against rape and violence.

The women also took their protest to His Royal Majesty, Okobaro of Ughievwen Kingdom, Dr. Matthew Egbi.

Inscriptions in the banners included, “We can no longer keep silence, hence we have come to say NO”, “We say no to rape, sexual harassment and every form of evil against the girl child and women in general” and “Enough is enough”.
