Environmental Right Group and Coastal Advocacy – Eco Restoration Foundation

Eco Restoration Foundation is registered as an incorporated trustee with the CAC to pursue its mandate of coastal wetland protection, restoration, and conservation on a national scale. As an environmental advocacy committed to the laws, regulations, and other policy mechanisms concerning restoration, conservation, and protection of coastal wetlands across Nigeria, we take actions to develop and advance environmental-based policies that conserve and protect the marine environment.

Paradoxically, the Niger Delta, is a growing concern of wasteland and depleted resources due largely to the ecologically unfriendly exploitation of oil and gas and state policies that expropriate the indigenous peoples of the Niger Delta of their rights to these natural resources.

It is saddening that the people of the Niger Delta are deprived of their share of the wealth on which the entire nation depends; they "benefit" only from compensation for incidents of oil pollution. At the same time, occurrences of oil spills in the Niger Delta region have increased.

In our quest for healthy and sustainable world, Eco Restoration Foundation expresses her mandate aimed at raising awareness in advocacy on the ground of three pillars including OCEAN LITERACY/COMMUNAL EMPOWERMENT, ECO-TOURISM, AND POLLUTION.

For over 6 years, Eco Restoration Foundation has been a leader in not only restoration but also the conservation of coastal resources, we have partnered with various organizations who delve into solving environmental related issues in creating awareness and the empowerment of people in coastal communities on conscious lifestyle and sustainable use of the environment.

We influence the enforcement of environmental laws and guidelines by taking actions to develop and advance environmental-based policies that conserve and protect the marine environment.

We have a direct nexus with 5 out of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Our vision is to institute a paradigm slight in the minds of Africans, towards imbibing more eco-friendly practice, effect and influencing all aspect of the environmental laws and policies by encourage governments to implement or amend existing laws to help nature with the goal of sustainable development of the natural ecosystem.

Our work is focused on:

• Biodiversity Conservation and Natural Resource Management

• Environmental Education /Awareness and Empowerment

• Policy advocacy and partnership development on Environmental and Biodiversity issues

• Habitat and species protection

• Environmental Services and Research

We are staffed by a group of dedicated conservationists who feel strongly about helping communities better manage the natural resources upon which their livelihoods depend. All of our programs help people and the planet by providing communities with a hand-up and not a hand-out. This approach creates economic opportunity while improving the environment and human health.
