Tedeye’s lone strike gives Ugbori maiden Warri Communities’ anti-cult football trophy

A lone strike from Adaneoristewo Omagba Tedeye, on Sunday May 2, earned Ugbori Community the maiden Warri Communities’ anti-cult football trophy, Fresh Angle International can report.

The competition tagged: “2021 Itsekiri Unite Against Cultism and Senseless Killings”, was organized by Joetia Football Club in collaboration with Tybe Synergy International, Kelcarwell Limited and Emitoj Nigeria Enterprise.

Ugbori Community defeated neighbouring Ekurede in the final of the tournament played at Olu Palace field, Warri, after both communities garnered five points each in the round-robin league, which featured Ugbori, Ekurede, Okere and Ugbuwangue.

Recall that the fixture schedule for the seven-aside tournament, began Monday April 26 with Ekurede taking on Okere, while on Tuesday April 27, it was Ugbori Vs Ugbuwangue. Other games in the league format competition, were between: Ugbuwangue Vs Ekurede (Wednesday April 28) Okere Vs Ugbori (Thursday April 29) Okere Vs Ugbuwangue (Friday April 30) and Ekurede Vs Ugbori (Saturday May 1).

Organizer of the competition, Eyebira Tonwe, had outlined the rules guiding the games to include: “Maximum of four substitutes for every game by each team, outgoing player will not be allowed to remove or exchange Jerseys with incoming players, two yellow cards will equal one red card and any red card will disqualify that player from the tournament, except reviewed by the officials/organizers. All teams must be properly dressed for their games. Teams must be available thirty minutes (30minutes) before game time and after ten minutes (10min) grace, walk-over will be conducted”.

Your Soaring International Tabloid can report that apart from winning the trophy, Ugbori Community received One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) while Ekurede went home with Fifty Thousand Naira (N50,000.00) as the second best team, leaving Okere and Ugbuwangue, with Twenty Five Thousand Naira (N25,000.00) each.

The organizers, thanked Mr. Armstrong Yomere, Special Assistant to Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa on Security, Community youth leaders and other guests that graced the grand finale of the competition, adding: “We appreciate everyone that supported this vision, especially fans alike that were supportive and present in all matches. We say thank you to all participating teams and their players”.
