Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL’s Saturn 1 Project in the Benin River axis of Warri North Local Government Area in Delta State, has been shutdown by indigenes from five aggrieved communities within the location, Fresh Angle International can report.

Some indigenes of the five aggrieved communities, vis-à-vis: Molume, Ekegboro, Ototo, Eketie, Ewuleba, reportedly stormed the multi-million-naira project in the early hours of today, Monday May 16 and shutdown the location, over perceived non-recognition by the management of the Oil and Gas Major, Chevron Nigeria Limited, CNL.

A leader from Molume (one of the aggrieved communities) Engr. Desmond Anomuoghanran, told This Newspaper in a telephone interview, this evening that Chevron only recognizes 32 Ijaw communities and four Itsekiri communities; Jakpa, Tebu, Ebokiti and Ugbege as host, despite a land ownership dispute that has been in court for over 3 decades, between Ebokiti, Ekegboro Molume Versus Ugbege.

He alleged that soldiers were drafted to disperse them from the location and vowed that they will not leave the project site, until they are duly recognized as one of the host communities, as against, “what is being proposed by some Itsekiri leaders outside the aggrieved communities”, who want Molume, Ekegboro, Ototo, Eketie, Ewuleba to be recognized as satellite hosts.
