NMU: Omadino gets Court’s nod to Institute Action against Buhari, National Assembly

The Omadino Community Management Committee headed by Dr. Robinson Eyokosi-Uwatse and the Community Council of Elders chaired by Elder O. D. Edukugho who doubles as the “Olara-Aja” (Community Head) today the 8 day of February, 2018, moved the federal High Court, Warri Judicial Division for an Order of the Court to issue and serve an originating summons to challenge the wrongful naming of the Nigerian Maritime University Okerenghigho being  proposed to be named “Okerenkoko” contrary to the relevant laws.

In it’s ruling, the court granted the prayers sought on the face of the motion exparte and ordered the Omadino community to immediately file all necessary processes and serve on the President and the National Assembly.

Speaking to pressmen immediately after the application was granted, Elder O.D Edukugho the “Olara-Aja” and Chairman of the Omadino Elders Council described this development as a first step on the part to enthroning the rule of law in the affairs and management of the region in general and the dispute over the naming of the Nigerian maritime University in particular. Quoting a Latin maxim, He said “Fiat justicia ruat coleum” meaning “let justice be done even if the heavens will fall”.

He reiterated the choice of the people of Omadino in resolving disputes through civilised channels as opposed to self help and resort to barbarism. Noting that the world and indeed the Niger-Delta region have come of age. He called on the people of Omadino and Itsekiris in general to remain Calm as victory is guaranteed in the name of God the Most High.

He concluded that all forms of internal and external distractions are only temporary setbacks from which the Omadino people will surely emerge victorious.

Mrs Tsaye Mene who is also a member of the Omadino Management Committee, spoke on behalf of the women of the community and express joy about the development and called on the women both at home and abroad to give as much moral support as they can afford for the success of the struggle which she described as a struggle for the protection of the rights of generations yet unborn.
