Kogi YESSO engages 12,000 Youths in Rural Job Creation


 

In a bid to reduce poverty and cub issues of unemployment in rural areas, Kogi State Youth Employment and Social Support Operation, YESSO, through the approval of the World Bank and support from Kogi State government are engaging 12,000 unemployed youths in rural job creation across the state, Our Kogi State Correspondent reports. 

 

This was made known in a statement signed and issued to pressmen by the State YESSO Coordinator, Mr. Noah Alilu.

 

He disclosed that the orientation training and biometric data capturing of the beneficiaries is ongoing at various Local Government Areas in the state. 

 

Noah explained that the process is very scientific and transparent as beneficiaries will not be involved in cash payments, while robust monitoring and evaluation is in place by the World Bank to ensure effective service delivery by the beneficiaries.

 

He further noted that, after the full engagement of the programme, beneficiaries shall be engaged in life skill training to ensure sustainability after disengagement.

 

Mr. Noah also recalled that, the public Welfare Unit of Kogi State Yesso, had last year employed over 4,000 youths through the same process. 

 

The programme he noted, has the capacity for reducing poverty, unemployment, rural urban migration while enhancing consumption, smoothing and rural economy deepening.
