Kogi judiciary staff slumps, dies

A Staff of Kogi State Judiciary, Mrs. Noah, a widow, popularly known and addressed as Mama Danlandi  slumped and died around 8.pm on Thursday April 2 in her residence in Lokoja, over a yet to be established illness.

This happened few days after judiciary staff of Kogi State resumed duty from 5-month old industrial dispute with Kogi State government.

Magistrate Court II, Lokoja was thrown into mourning mood, as it lost one of its dedicated staff, Mrs. Fatimah Noah to the cold hands of death.

Eye account said she resumed work on Monday March 29 with her colleagues, as JUSUN called off 5-month old strike, after National Judicial Council, NJC, resolved the trade disputes between the judiciary and Kogi State Government without complain of any form of medical complication.

According to a colleague of hers, late  Mama Danladi was seen on duty on Thursday without betraying any emotion of a sickness or any form of discomfort in or around her, until she closed and left for home.

A family source said since her husband died years ago, the burden of family upkeep lies on her, but that the situation became compounded when her salary was not paid to her, for almost a year now.

"Mama Danladi who had not taken salaries for the past one year,  a widow with children in tertiary institutions was said to have scouted for just #20,000 three days ago to address pressing needs of one of her sons in the school without success", the source stressed.

The source added that  the non payment of salaries of  workers by the government since resumption from the strike is causing uneasiness among the concerned workers .

While speaking to journalists, most of her colleagues at her working place extolled her virtues of humour and said they have lost a rare gem whose dedication to work endeared her to the high and the low at her place of work.

Our Kogi State Correspondent reports that the remains of late mama Danladi who was born on November 18, 1973 and died may 2019 has been taken to Idah, her country home on Friday, and buried according to Islamic rites.
