The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, on Thursday July 4, presented Award of Excellence to Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, describing the Council Boss as an Icon of hope and Inspiration to Nigeria Students as well as youths.

National President of NANS, Danelson Bamidele Akpan, in a message shortly before the award presentation, mentioned the prompt and adequate supply of drugs to the council’s health centers, while health centers in other areas lack insufficient personnel and effective environmental sanitation approach, which would help to reduce expenditure of the council on diseases, as some achievements of the Tidi administration that informed the award.

The NANS President who was represented by the Association’s Award Committee Chairman, Comrade Adeyeye Olugbenga, noted, “the nominations are made secretly, it’s not contradicted”.

He also outlined reasonable peace and security, constant servicing of traditional institutions within the council area as well as building bridges with relevant stakeholders, with a view to ensuring socio-economic development as other key achievements of the Tidi led administration.

Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Dr. Michael Tidi, asserted that the National Award by NANS which came exactly two-weeks after the Rootswatch Magazine  National Award for distinguished Local Government Chairmen in Nigeria, “is not mere coincidence”, but a reminder of the fact that when one is given opportunity to serve, he or she has to “prove it”.

While stating that the NANS leadership did extensive research before bestowing him with the award, Dr. Tidi stressed the need for youths to build their capacity and set their priorities right.

He promised not to do anything to let youths down, even as he expressed gratitude to Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for counting him worthy to contest as local government chairman.

Vice Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Chief Divine Iniovosa, Secretary to Warri South Local Government Council, Mr. Joseph Oribioye, Supervisors, the Council’s Head of Personnel Management, Comrade Douglas Akambe, Treasurer to the Local Government, Sunday Otighi, and a delegation from NANS headquarters, were in attendance during the award presentation.
