NATIONAL FOOD Vs LOCAL FOODS
Egusi soup and fufu

I am not going to let go this time on the pending argument on delicacies that should be classed as national or local in Nigeria.  Why do you want me to support ''Six-to-six and Egusi soup? Is it because it is common in your area? Despite the fact that, I enjoy eating it, I am not going to speak of it when this conference starts because you have never given me lunch or dinner.

Do you think 'it's the best food? We have them aplenty in this country. Even though I will bet my last kobo that it goes with different soups and keeps one on till whenever, and it's a truck-pusher's delight any day, we must talk over some ''boruls.''

Yesterday, one of my brothers spoke glowing appraisal of ''Amala and Ewedu'' as if nothing else happens in this country. Although one of my favorites, I told him my mind. It's true that it could be taken at any time; morning, afternoon or evening. It's not as heavy as ''Six-to-Six.'' Like ''Six-to-Six,'' it has its own appeal. Whether it is national or local is depended on our tet-a-tet.
