SDP condemn desperate attempts by Dickson to impose cronies on Bayelsans

The Social Democratic Party, SDP, Bayelsa State Chapter has condemned in strong terms the desperate attempts by Governor Henry Seriake Dickson to undemocratically super impose his cronies on the sensibilities of Bayelsans, Our Bayelsa State Correspondent reports.

State Secretary of the Party, Oribo Einstein Nanie made the condemnation contained in a press release made available  to journalists in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

According to him, "Bayelsans should be worried at the way and manner Governor Dickson and his party (PDP) are going because their desperation is causing pains, sufferings and frustrations to the people, adding that Bayelsans should ask Governor Dickson why he waited all these years without conducting local Government Area election only for him to desperately coarse people few weeks to the end of his tenure".

Oribo said the "way  and manner the governor is going is suspicious and dangerous to our nascent democracy, stressed that the continuous appointment of card carrying members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to the leadership of the Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) is unacceptable. The Governor started with the appointment of Chief Dr. Bertola Perekeme who resigned few days to the original date of the election only for him to emerge as PDP Flag bearer in Ekeremor Local Government Area.
Not satisfied with the Chief Bertola Perekeme's treachery, the governor went ahead to appoint a serving member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Ball Oyarede who was replaced due to public condemnation, stressing that despite the public outcry, Governor Dickson went ahead to appoint Chief Remember Ogbe, a PDP card carrying member and former chairman Southern Ijaw LGA, Bayelsa State who contested the just concluded National Assembly election as acting chairman of the BYSIEC".

The SDP scribe condemned the 420,000,000 naira paltry sum approved for the conduct of local government election, against the 1, 200,000,000 naira that was budgeted by BYSIEC, adding that, it is a further confirmation of Governor Dickson's hidden agenda to handpick his stooge while giving it a surface resemblance of Democratic election.

Oribo called on lovers of democracy to condemn this Democratic tyranny as he urged the governor to appoint renown member of the clergy and academia with proven integrity who can guarantee a free and fair election that will be accepted by every body.
