Address our demands in 21 days or face embarrassment, Ex- Agitators dare OMSL

Ex- Agitators and host communities in Warri South, Warri South-West and Warri North Local Government Areas in Delta State, under the aegis of Federated Niger Delta Communities of Nigeria (Escravos Zone) have handed down a 21-day ultimatum to the management of Ocean Marine Solutions Limited, OMSL, to address their perceived neglect and abandonment in the pipeline surveillance contract or face embarrassment.

Fresh Angle International can report that the ultimatum which took effect from Sunday October 27, was fallout of a communique released at the end of a meeting held by the above named body at Felli Guest House, Angle Park, Warri, in Warri South Local Government Area.

The communique signed by Comrade Abuge Mene and Comrade Omatseye Wilson, on behalf of Federated Niger Delta Communities of Nigeria (Escravos Zone) noted: “We resolved as follows:

·        That first, we commend the effort of President Muhammadu Buhari on the government-to-government backed partnership to work together in upstream operations and in revamping Nigeria’s ill-functioning refineries. We strongly believe that this will in no doubt, boost our economy and meet our consumption demands.

·        That the management of the pipeline surveillance contract in the Escravos zone, is playing negative politics by awarding it to strange people who are mainly PDP members living outside the zone, which have led us to write several letters to your management in this regard but this have however, fell on deaf ears.

·         In view of this conscious act of undermining the ex-agitators and host communities of Escravos zone, the act of management in promising to resolve the issue since the 10th day of December 2018 but till date have done nothing to that effect even after we wrote a reminder letter to them on several occasions on the continuous hijack of pipeline surveillance contracts and neglect of host communities.

·        We reiterate our rejection in totality, the award of pipeline surveillance contract, Escravos zone to unknown persons which have ensured they deliberately blank out ex-agitators/host communities from the region that are sympathetic to the APC government. We demand the total and immediate review of the pipeline surveillance contract, Escravos zone from the present management until the ex-agitators/host communities are fully carried along to forestall any form of uprising that may thwart the aim of this project.

·        We demand against this background therefore, the complete list of all beneficiaries of the pipeline surveillance contract to ascertain our position”.

The communique which listed Omadino, Ifie, Orere-Uluba, Jakpa, Gbokoda and Ugborodo as the host communities of the pipeline surveillance contract, copied the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, the GMD of NNPC, Chief of Naval Staff, Chief of Army Staff and DSS.
