Renowned Itsekiri academic, Dr. Lucky Akaruese has accused Delta State governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan of not serving the interest of Itsekiris in Delta State.

Dr. Akaruese made the accusation while addressing Leaders of Odua People’s Congress, OPC during the National Coordinating Council Meeting of OPC held at Pa. J.O.S. Ayomike’s private residence in Warri, Delta State Tuesday December, 17.

According to him, “history will not forgive Dr. Uduaghan and his accomplices for the injustice melted out to the Itsekiri National Youth Council led by Hon. David Tonwe, OPC National Coordinator, Dr. Gani Adams and his entourage”.

The academic and Itsekiri rights activist further accused governor Uduaghan of trying to display loyalty to President Goodluck Jonathan’s return bid in 2015.

In his remark, National Co-coordinator, Odua People’s Congress, Dr. Gani Adams thanked Pa. J.O.S. Ayomike for welcoming him and his entourage to his residence.

Dr. Adams said the Itsekiris are among the descendants of Oduduwa, just as he stressed that the late Pa. Alfred Mogbeyiwa Rewane was a great leader and member of Afenifere.

According to him, former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu honoured the late patriarch of the Rewane dynasty due to his struggle for Yoruba Nation.

Dr. Adams explained that OPC is not a militant organization, noting that anybody who labels OPC as such shall be dealt with in due course.

He condemned a recent newspaper publication labeling the OPC as a political and troublesome organization. The OPC leader declared that Yorubas and Itsekiris are not cowards.

In a remark, prominent Itsekiri historian, Pa. J.O.S. Ayomike said the visit of OPC leadership to Warri has made him feel well.

High point of the event was the inauguration of OPC Itsekiri Chapter, Delta State.

Our Correspondent reports that National President of Itsekiri National Youth Council, INYC, Hon. David Tonwe, Chief Madam F.E. Rewane, Comrade Michael Odeli, Itsekiri Coordinator of OPC Delta State and Prof. Tony Ajejuku were in attendance.
