The Ovie’s Palace, which is located in Olomu area of the city — does not only serve as the workplace and residence of the King, but also as the location of the Agbogidi shrine.
The shrine is where the traditional cleansing rites of the kingdom are carried out. Additionally, entering the sacred area of the shrine without performing rites is a taboo.
Although the shrine is one of the most visited parts of the palace, not everyone is granted access to it. To get around the palace grounds, visitors are required to have a guide.
