Delta Commissioner, Aniagwu, shuns questions on IGR, reports' mandate given to Information Managers
Mr. Charles Aniagwu

Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has declined response on questions put to him with a view to ascertaining if the management of Delta Broadcasting Service Warri and Information Officers in the state government payroll, are meeting up to the internally generated revenue and monthly stories' mandate he handed down to them.

Mr. Aniagwu had in a working visit to Delta Broadcasting Service, Warri, sometime last year, directed the management of the state owned media to generate at - least 2.5 million naira monthly for its running cost.

The commissioner in January this year, also addressed Information Officers in the state government payroll, giving them a mandate to file not less than 10 stories each every month.

Findings by this newspaper, revealed that despite the monthly 10 stories' mandate handed down to the Information Officers, particularly those in the out - stations by Mr. Aniagwu, reasonable number of the affected staff seem unfazed.

Efforts by Fresh Angle International to get the compliance level from the commissioner today, Sunday February 2, was ignored as he declined response to short messages sent to his mobile phone and aborted call put -through to him.

It was reliably gathered that despite having State Information Officers serving in the 25 local government councils in Delta State, Pointer Newspaper, which is owned by the state government, has correspondents in only 9 local government areas and it's expected that the Information Officers posted to the council areas should fill the void where necessary, in terms of filing reports to the Ministry of Information, which is in charge of the state government owned electronic and print media.
