Budget: Warri South-West Chairman, Taiye proposes N5 billion for 2020

Chairman of Warri South-West Local Government Area in Delta State, Hon. Taiye Duke Tuoyo, on Monday February 3, presented an estimate of Five Billion, Twenty Million and Twenty Thousand Naira, (N5,020, 020, 000. 00) to the Warri South-West Legislative Arm, for consideration as appropriation for the 2020 fiscal year.

                                                

While presenting the budget estimate christened, "Estimate of Reality", Hon. Taiye Duke Tuoyo, described it as a major milestone in the life of his administration, adding that the importance of budget in any organization, is to direct the financial transactions within a fiscal year.

 

Our Senior Correspondent, who was at Ogbe-Ijoh, to cover the presentation, reports the budget breakdown as follows: Expected Income: Statutory allocation from Federation Account (FAAC) 3.4 Billion, proceed from Value Added Tax, VAT, Six Hundred Million Naira, (N600, 000,000 .00) Primary School Staff Salaries: Eight Hundred Million Naira (N800, 000,000.00) Allocation to Traditional Rulers: Ninety Six Million Naira (N96, 000.000.00) and targeted IGR: Fifteen Million Naira, (N15,020.000.00).

Further breakdown shows that personnel cost will gulp two billion, one hundred and nineteen million, four hundred and forty nine thousand, three hundred and fifteen naira, while over- head cost will consume one billion, three hundred and seventy two million, five hundred and seventy thousand, six hundred and eighty five naira, leaving capital expenditure with the sum of one billion, five hundred and twenty eight naira.

 

 

The Warri South-West Council Boss, appealed to the legislators to give the budget expeditious passage.

 

 

Leader of Warri South-West Legislative Arm, Hon. Gabriel Ojegbe, expressed displeasure over the 2019 budget implementation and urged the council executive to implement the 2020 budget judiciously, for the benefit of all wards in the local government area.

 

He assured the Council Chairman that the legislators will look into the budget and give it speedy passage, in order to move the local government forward.

 

 

The member representing Diebiri Ward in Warri South-West Legislative Arm and Deputy Leader, Hon. Frank Pukon, moved motion for adoption and first reading of the 2020 Warri South-West Local Government Council budget estimate, which was adopted unanimously and read by the Leader of the Legislative Arm.

 

Hon. Pukon, assured his constituents, “of better things to come in the 2020 budget” and enjoined them to support the legislators as well as the executive to do the needful always.

 

 

High points of the event was the laying of the 2020 draft estimate at the legislative chamber and presentation of a copy to the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Ojegbe by Hon. Taiye Tuoyo, in the presence of the 20 councilors representing various wards across the council.
