Delta monarch confers chieftaincy title on 13 indigenes

A monarch in Delta State, the Ovie of Ughievwen Kingdom, HRM. Matthew Ediri, JP, Owahwa II, has conferred chieftaincy title on 13 indigenes of his kingdom, urging them to see their honour as opportunity to promote the culture of the kingdom.

The ceremony which held at the palace of the monarch in Ugievwen, Ughelli South Local Government had in attendance prominent Deltans including the Political Adviser to Delta State Governor, Barr. Fred Okiemute Majemite and Delta State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Barr. Richard Mofe Damijo.

The conferment of titles was kick-started with a visit to the palace of the monarch of Ughievwen, HRM. Ediri by the 13 newly installed chiefs.

Our Correspondent reports that those conferred with Chieftaincy title include: Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Special Duties, Chief (Mrs.) Florence Gbemre, the Transition Committee Chairman of Ughelli South local government, Chief Anthony Oviri Uto, Chief Friday .O. Okoh, Chief Vera .E. Okoh, Chief .J.N. Safia, Chief Clement .E.B. Djebah, Chief Philomena .A.B. Djebah, Chief Ogbe Ideh, Chief Grace Ideh, Chief Gowon .O. Ogheneovo, Chief Jeremiah .O. Potokri, and Chief .A. Agbaza.

Responding on behalf   of the newly installed Chiefs, Chief Friday Okoh described the Ughievwen monarch as a Christian that has the fear of God and also the man of the people.

The Okobaro (Ovie) of Ughiewen Kingdom, HRM. Matthew Ediri, JP, Owahwa II, in his remark enjoined the newly conferred chiefs to advertise their chieftaincy title on newspaper, magazine and television in other for them to be recognized as Olorugun (Chief) of Ughievwen Kingdom.
