The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says it did not authorize any individual or organization to conduct any membership registration of its members under any guise.
Fresh Angle International can report that the position of the main opposition party at the National level, is coming on the heels of ongoing crisis in the ruling All Progressives Congress.
The PDP in a statement released this evening, Friday March 13, stressed that it: “Is governed and guided by its Constitution, which prescribes that 30 days before Congresses, all Ward registers must be closed, (see Section 8(10). Therefore, it is illegal and unconstitutional to register members while congresses are on-going.”
The statement authored by PDP National Organizing Secretary, Col. Austin Akobundu (Rtd.) emphasized: “All State Chairmen are therefore, by this correspondence, mandated to take firm control and maintain strict supervision of our Party’s membership, issuance of valid Membership Cards, and Ward Registers.
“All Membership Cards whose origin cannot be established/verified is therefore suspected to be forged.”
The PDP enjoined all stakeholders and Party faithful to shun and report any illegal registration activities to the appropriate authorities.
The APC crisis has pitched governors, ministers and leaders of the party against themselves, with analysts expecting the PDP to take advantage of the festering APC crisis.
