The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Edo State, Comrade Godwin Erhahon has urged the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to stop mocking widows in Edo State by distributing few cups of rice, challenging the PDP to solve the problems of hunger, unemployment, bad roads as well as expensive medical care that lead to the death of more young men rather than waiting for them to die to have their vulnerable widows reduced to destitute.
The APC spokesman said PDP leaders in Edo State should be ashamed that it is only now that they have realized that some widows in the state are suffering. “Unfortunately, instead of ensuring that widows of policemen, other military and para-military personnel as well as public officers who died in service are paid their entitlements to enable them live comfortably, irrespective of their political leaning, the Chief Dan Orbih- led PDP has resorted to sadistic mockery of widows”, Comrade Godwin Erhahon asserted.
He further said, “assembling partisan widows for petty gifts, while withholding from the majority their legitimate entitlements that would have been enough to earn them sustainable living, is an act of ridicule of their widowhood. It is saddening that PDP which looted our hospitals, maternities and clinics from 1999 till 2008, stole the over thirty-nine functional ambulances it inherited from the military, now cries over shortage of ambulances in the state hospitals without stating how many it left.”
