A combined team of Igbudu Community Vigilante in Warri, Delta State and Men of the Nigerian Army at about 7am Tuesday February 11 shot dead a suspected armed robber at Igbudu Market, Warri, Our Senior Correspondent reports.
Fresh Angle scooped from a source within the vigilante who craved anonymity that the suspected armed robber and three other members of his gang who came to the area with a Jeta car branded with Delta City Taxi colour were about collecting an old bag from an unidentified woman at gun point when the combined team of Igbudu Community Vigilante and the soldiers who were on routine patrol opened fire on them, killing one of the suspects, while the remaining three members of the gang escaped.
Cases of robbery and snatching of personal effects are daily occurrence in Igbudu Market area of Warri and investigation reveals that it was in a bid to check the activities of hoodlums that the Igbudu Community set up the Vigilante which has been working in synergy with the Area Command of Nigerian Police, Warri.
Our Senior Correspondent reports that a locally made pistol and some cartridges were found with the suspected armed robber who was killed.
Some residents who spoke with Fresh Angle said the armed robbery gang has been terrorizing the area.
One Onajevwe Adjuga was allegedly shot in his left ear by this same robbery gang some time ago.
