Fresh: Police kills armed robber, as two others escape

Men of the Nigeria Police Force "B" Division in Warri at about 21:37pm on Monday February 24 killed an armed robber along Giwa-Amu Road near Arubayi Junction by God's Grace Ministry, Our Senior Correspondent reports.

Divisional Police Officer of “B” Division Warri, CSP Garaje Gado who made the disclosure during a chat with newsmen on Tuesday February 25 at about 8am, explained that Men of the Nigeria Police Force under his command who were on routine patrol gunned down the armed robber after a gun duel.

CSP Gado alleged that the robbers numbering three had earlier robbed one Iyere Matthew of 156 Jakpa Road of his Mini-Laptop, phones and other effects in his residence.

According to the CSP, Mr. Iyere Matthew gave the robbers who came with a Volkswagen Vento with Registration number FKJ164 AR a hot chase from Jakpa road after he was robbed to Airport Road by Total filling station through a popular Warri based Eatery, AJ Fast Foods where he met and informed the police of the development.

He added that his men immediately tailed the robbers and was able to gun down one of them, while the other two members of the gang escaped after an exchange of gunfire.

CSP Gado quipped that the Patrol team which was led by ASP. Nwokolocha L Ogbogwu would have successfully tracked down the other two members of the gang save for God's Grace Ministry who just closed service at the time of the chase.

Recovered from the robbery suspect is a mini-laptop, modems, an empty wallet, an English made rifle, a locally made rife, two expended cartridges and six different sim cards as well as a Volkswagen Vento which CSP Gado noted the robbers stole.
