CSR: 125 Itsekiri women get economic lifeline

A total of 125 women from five communities in Warri South local government, Delta State have been presented with cheques of N 75,000 each by a Warri based company, Matrix Energy Limited in line with the Delta State government human capital development agenda.

The amount which is a 50% increatse of last year’s figure of N 50,000 was given to 40 women from Ifiekporo, 25 from Ubeji and 20 each from Aja-Etan, Egbokodo and Ijala communities.

Managing Director and CEO of Matrix Energy, Alhaji Abdulkadir Adisa Aliu in an address before the cheques were presented Saturday March 1 at a ceremony in Ifie, blamed the company’s inability to combine this year’s presentation of cheques with its students’ scholarship programme on the inability of academic institutions to complete the 2012/ 2013 academic calendar.

While noting that beneficiaries of its women empowerment scheme for this year is 33 percent more than last year’s figure of 94, Alhaji Abdulkabir Aliu commended Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, the Olu of Warri and people of Warri for the hospitality his company is enjoying while doing business in the area.

Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan in a message through his Senior Special Assistant on Community Relations, Barr. Vincent Omorie attributed the smooth operations of the company in Warri to the enabling environment created by the state government and described the women empowerment programme as a dividend of democracy.

Special Project Director of Trans Warri- Ode- Itsekiri Bridges and Access Roads, Chief Otimeyin Adams in a remark enjoined other corporate bodies doing business in Warri to emulate the gesture of Matrix Energy.
